Butyl rubber sheets (IIR) are highly resistant to mineral acids, alkalines and aqueous acids and also resistant to most inorganic products. It has a very low permeability to air and other gases as it is a copolymer or isobutylene and a small percentage of isoprene. IIR has excellent resistance to ozone, oxidation and sunlight.
Temperature:
– 45 oC to + 130 oC
Application:
Butyl rubber sheet has a very low resilience which makes it ideal for vibration damping and shock absorption application. But it offers a moderate resistance to abrasion and compression set. Butyl compound can be made to acquire really good tensile strength with careful compounding. But it is not recommended to use in application where require resistance to oils and hydrocarbons.
